As "that dude", I resent the fact that somehow I'm being cast as a villain for pointing out what can/may happen when discussions of interest disappear to p-mail...AND I explicitly labeled my statement as opinion...( IMHO = In my Humble Opinion ).

To think that Kyle or any other vendor/service provider who posts to the vanagon list isn't "commercially motivated" is just plain silly! It's probably equally silly for vendors to shy away from posting to the list factual information about the products/parts they sell when said products/parts are new or, as yet, unknown...to avoid being publicly excoriated for "commercial activity". It's possible that Kyle has become overly sensitive to criticism of commercial postings, or perception thereof, as a result of the Ratio Rockers and ECU Chip Kit discussion earlier this spring (Which, given the price, seems like a cheap power add-on, compared to the Eurospec transplant)...

What's weird is that I was actually trying to do him and Eurospec a favor by pointing out (obviously using the wrong tone of words)that it was important for factual information surrounding the Eurospec conversion to be posted - in detail - to the list. The ensuing discussion will bring out more information from other quarters, as it already has, and enrichen all of us.

Following is engine specs for the 4cyl engines currently available for the New Beetle (the 2.0 specs are the same for the Golf/Jetta/ Passat with the exception of torque peak being at 3200rpm). I invite anyone who has a copy of the EuroCar article on the conversion to fill in the Eurospec column with factual information:
