I got my Westy back from Stebro Tuesday evening with the new muffler back in place. They now have a jig to start production. They are a little worried about the fit as they have encountered many different fits on various Vanagons. This stems from the many connections of the Vanagon's exhaust system and the various ways various mechanics have installed previos pieces and I think they should not worry about it. When installing just the muffler from Stebro it MAY be neccessary to loosen all the connections, install their muffler, then re-tighten all the connections evenly. This was not neccessary on my '87, althought we did loosen the connection of the CAT and move it around a bit until a good location came about in regards to the new muffler. Not a big deal ! I think their worried for no reason. The muffler is of excellent construction and material and I find it fits just perfect in place of the original. The sound is about normal, maybe just a bit louder and the engine does seem to rev freeer. I am doing a gas milage check for them now as it is should show about a 2% improvement according to the engineer. I will post the results when I have them. Any of you on this list who would like to have this muffler need to contact Stebro and let them know of your intentions so they get rolling with their production NOW and will continue on with the developement of the pipes. As far a group purchases goes I think it will be better if someone in the USA organizes this as for me to get them and reship them would be useless. They would be better off to all ship from their factory to one location in the US then get distributed from there. I am going to try to get some pics of the installation up on my web page before I go on vacation next week but if I don't I will certainly get them there the following week, so watch for another posting letting you all know the pics are there. I am open for any questions you may have so ask away ! You can reach Stebro by phone at: 1-888-8STEBRO or by e-mail at: stebro@istar.ca talk to Dan or John.

Cheers

Frank
