Subject: intermittent coolant leak

I found the intermittent coolant leak which had puzzled me for a couple of days. When my V-belt came off during my trip it must have damaged one of the rubber elbows which connect to the oil cooler on my 87 Syncro. They are towards the bottom left of the waterpump.

VW dealers don't have them in stock and want can$43 each for those elbows which are bout four inches long. (On the fiche or part catalogue they have the numbers 4 and 6) Unfortunately the elbow seems to have different diameters on both ends so it is not easy to substitute.

Are there any out there or has someone found a good substitute?

Thanks,

Björn

P.S. I am serious.
