My alloys, the OEM Carat style, are begining to pit and lose their clear coat. Has anyone attemted to refinish alloys before? I'd like to do this myself, I had a quote of $100 per wheel to resurface and repaint them, which is too much. I was thinking about removing the rest of the clear coat and repainting them. Problem is I don't know what to remove the clear coat with or what type of paint it durable enough for wheels. Any ideas? BTW I want to keep a stock color, so I'd assume it's natural alluminum with clear coat, or are they painted silver?
