Some info has already been posted on LTs. They are no comparison to
vanagons. They are VW version of a van/truck with more space front engine
and a straight rear axle (no independent suspension). There are many camper
versions available in Germany. But they are far away from the comfort and
handling of a vanagon. They were built as VW was entering the light truck
market in cooperation with MAN, a truck/Bus company in Southern Germany.
Some people converted the LT into a 4x4 by adding a straight front axle. In
other words it will handle much like a pickup truck with a larger metal box.
They have this metal box type feeling that you can get from some North
American vans as well.
