If there is still some stud sticking out of the head, you can use a trick that I used to use for the air cooled ones. You cut a 1" long slot in a 1/2" square steel tube about 6" long. slide the tube over the stud and mig weld it to the stud through the slot. You can then put a wrench on the tube and remove the stud. :-)
