  As most/many of us know we've been going thru this topic for a while.
We (Volks Cafe) have found something that we belive could contribute to
this shudder;

  If the fingers on the crossarm shaft are inspected closely, you'll
find many of them are worn MORE on the side closer to the arm that
actuates the clutch than the other side.

  What this will cause is UNEVEN pressure on the TO Bearing causing the
cluitch to chatter.  Make sense?

  We had a clutch do this we removed the trans and found the worn
crossarm shaft, we then installed another used shaft in MUCH better
shape, SAME Clutch UNTOUCHED and re-installed the trans and had no
problem after that.

  I hope many of you find this to be good info, I know that we
scurtinize EVERY crossarm shaft now no matter what year the Vanagoon is.
