--------------------- Hi All, This is a like you say unnerving thing to write about and one that is probably even more difficult to have a hard and fast rule to follow. My 86 240 k miles fuel hoses looked pretty good until you took them out and then on close inspection found checks and cracks especially on the short ones that are attached to the injectors. in the midwest and east we get more chemical and salt but then we tend to garage out cars more than in the south and west so we won't get as much ultra violet damage. The originals seem to last better longer than the replacements fi hoses. The originals have hose clamps that don't damage the hose as much as screw down type we normally use when we replace the hoses. I would replace the original hoses after 10 years and there after about every 5 years. Carry a 5-10 pound fire extinguisher behind your driver seat or some very convenient place. They have 8 pounders at Sams for $20. Getting there quick and point at the base of the fire and don't let up is very important.

Darrell
