Use an Ohm meter on the sensor. For a given temp. the resistance is specified in the Bentley. More important it is likely this is not your problem, but there is a break in the wiring going to the ECU. Keep in mind that there is 2 wires that are making connection at the temp. sensor in one crimp connector. One goes to the idle stablizer, and one goes to the computer. Chances are the wire that goes to the computer is opened. They tend to break in the engine compartment where the engine rocks. Run a temperary jumper to test...........or use and Ohm meter on the wiring harness while someone moves the wires around.
