I don't know if people on the list like to receive summaries of the problems which are posted but it is a common practice on the better organized technical lists I've been on. So, until I am told otherwise, I'll post summaries for the listmembers of problems I have experienced and about which I have received feedback from listmembers.

Harold Empey is the Service Director at MVP in Merrillville, IN. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the tremendous help he was in getting us back on the road. He wasn't able to isolate the problem with the Westy before our return but charged us nothing for his trouble. Using the info below I was able to get the Westy home and today I found a local Indianapolis shop (Autohaus on Michigan St.) with a tremendous amount of experience in Veedubs. (The owner is German speaking if that gives any indication.) They have the part I need to get the "Hund" back on the road.

THE SOLUTION: Thanks to everyone who responded. I am only going to post the most relevant solution which came from Jess Lopatynski.
