All Vanagon's and EV's are supposed to use regular gas with octane #87 (in Denver, it's 85). Theoretically It is a waste of money to use higher than the necessary octane on cars designed to use regular gas. But some people will insist by using the higher octane gas the gas mileage is better. I myself used medium grade (octane # 87) gas in Denver and I had the best gas mileage I've ever got on my Syncro: 23.3mpg. Use non-RFG (Non-Reformulated Gas) you are guaranteed to get much better gas mileage.

Okay, this is probably in the archives, it's probably in my manual, but my manual says regular gas is okay, but use a minimum 92 octane, which is the prmium around here. I know there are various, (or at lest two) rating systems for octane, so what do others put in there vans. Mines's a 91 TIA David
