In this case, the K is of another meaning. The letter behind VW's 9-figure part number is to signifie number of improvement. *** 141 031 * would tell a well-trained VW parts salesman that this is a clutch-disc, but not for which car. The A would be the 1st improvement over the original part. An additional X signifies that the part is in the exchange-program, VW have been resurculating parts for many years. Another example is the complete clutch-kit for Diesel-engined cars. The part number is 068 198 141, but followed by BX, it fits 81-89 Rabbit and Golf 1.6D , followed by CX, it fits 77-81 Rabbit 1.5D, followed by DX, it fits 86-90 Vanagon 1.6D, followed by EX, it fits 90-91 Golf 1.6D and 92-94 Golf 1.9D.
