The problem is that all the ductwork for the intake gets in the way. I ended up doing it by taking the intake tube/AFM/throttle body off. Turns out I had to do that anyway since the switch contact arm could be bent to start functioning again. Also, the clamp on the intake end of the throttle body (with the "S" tube) was rusted in place and I took the opportunity to clean the area up and put a new clamp on).

That reminds me...the hose between the "S" tube (between the throttle body and the AFM) and the engine breather is badly cracked. Could this be a source of vacuum leak?

So Bill, you were right: the switch was still OK, but the arm didn't get pushed far enough by the idle cam. We'll see if bending it lasts. I also can hear the click, so if that goes away, I know it's bent back.

I can't tell yet if it really runs any better. The only problem I had was stalling at cold start and I used the van today, so I can't test that until tomorrow.

Regards,

-Karl
