Subject: VW Parts manual software

I called up my local VW dealer for some prices on A/C parts. I found out that they use a PC with some VW distributed software for their parts catalog/diagram. Of course there is yet another official VW program for the VW parts number associated with the diagram part number. And then a 3rd program to get today's bargain basement price from VWoA. But its the detailed parts manual online that I'm interested in.

Does anyone know of or aware of such software program for the parts diagram? I would gladly pay for this or for the diskettes to copy this to. I would think that it would be a great addition to the vast plethora of VW workshop manuals available ;-)

It sure would be keen to have a copy of the software so you can view all the parts at 2 Am from the privy of your own laptop while directly under the van trying to re/disassemble something. Better yet lets put it on a web site available to the world. What is VW hiding or keeping secret here. We all know what breaks.

Apparently the dealers get an update to these files. What I proposed to the parts guy is to take his old software off his hands. I don't need the latest 1998 stuff for my 1989 van. I'm sure the parts have not changed since 1991. I'm going to have to take that parts guy out for a few drinks and see what he will spill ;-)

Anyway, if anyone has this software or knows how to get it, it would be great.

Thanks all.
