hello, listees!

first of all, many, many thanks to whomever put j&R VW vans in reno, nevada, on the list of recommended mechanics. i stopped there on my way from moab utah to yosemite np for an oil change and a look-see, and steven (mechanic) and jerry (owner) were most accomodating, friendly, professional, and competent. steven checked out everything visible, checked all the fluids, looked at the spare (which was flat; they sold me another at a great price) and answered my mile-a-minute questions patiently. i'd consider moving to reno just to be near such good guys. and if you want to buy a van, i'd go there first. they've got a nice collection of westies, a few syncros and other vans.

ok, so i'm now in sonoma, california. i came here from southeast utah via yosemite, where i experienced the three b's: beauty, bugs and bears (and tourists). so now i start my homeward stretch via san francisco, the grand canyon and other arizona places.

and the big question: how do i thank my vehicle once i'm back in pa? i want to really treat her well since so far, she's done me right. a tuneup? a steak dinner? please advise.

thanks, all! susan and magnus
