In another age, enterprising young surferdudes used to TOW their boards behind their bikes to get to the parts of the beach where the waves were running. Southern California beaches always suffered from lack of parking and the biking subset of the surfers never seemed to have enough time to make enough money to buy a cool surfin' ride...

Early windsurfing was actually done in the parking lots with a sail mounted to the bike!
