My personal experience is that replacing everything is not a cure, merely a temporary palliative. When the problem first cropped up in my van, I replaced the clutch disc and throw out bearing; that 'cured' the problem for maybe two months or so. A few years later when I did a total engine rebuild I replaced the pressure plate, clutch plate, t.o. bearing and pilot bearing. Again 'cured, but only for a couple of months. I did not have the flywheel refaced, however, others on the list have reported having the flywheel resurfaced followed by the eventual (sooner rather than later, to my recollection) return of the shuddering.

I personally am mystified!

Gary
