How about the motor mounts? I know when I swapped out the engine in my van a couple of years ago, I also replaced these, and have been "shudder free" so far. If replacing all these parts doesn't cure the situation for long, then it seems like it has to be something else wearing out. I wonder if rear spring sag (another recurring "Vanagon" problem) could contribute to the shudder?
