I want top quality hose (steel tubing around the engine if possible) and dont forget the clamps.) >> As far as replacing the rubber/cotton hose with metal, there MAY be a reason VW opted not to. I know in the early model Porsche 914s, which used (basically) the same motor, there was a *big* problem with vapor lock; (had a 1970 914, been there, done that). This is a condition when the fuel in the lines exceeds the (temperature) flash point (correct my terminology if I am wrong), and turns into vapor, which the fuel pump could not move. In effect, the pump became "unprimed" when the motor was shut off under hot conditions. I have thought of replacing my lines with copper or steel, but have not due to this recollection. If anyone has successfully, I would love to know, so I can repeat! gmbulley cary, nc |
