One possible reason may be political. In standardizing lenses throughout Europe, the French "yellow" was dropped in favor of the more common "clear". I had both; "clear" on the Vanagon and "yellow" on the Saab. IMO The "yellow" lenses are better for driving through fog. They were both Cibie's and had similar lenses and were about the same height above the road. Alas, the Saab is sold but I kept the yellow driving lights to use another day. The Vanagon currently has Super Bi Oscars with enough candle power to bleach a moose. Larry |
