------------------------------- Hi Volks, My transaxle, 2wd 86 westy 243k miles 091 transaxle , is making more noise than I care to listen to. I have tried synthetic oil and it makes it shift easier and very smooth but still has a lot of whine when under load. I want to / plan to purchase most all the bearings, synchronizer rings, synchronizer keys, reverse slider gear and from many posts Todd Hill has me convinced the 3 rd / 4th gear synchronizer hub should be replaced, thanks Todd. So where are the best prices on transaxle parts ? I prefer doing my own work and have some experience with the 091 transaxle on a 78 westy and feel that experience will serve me well on the 86. While in there it would be nice to install a little taller rear end, in the 4.50 to 4.40 would be neat. tia for any help with my quest. Darrell |
