Hi, I have an 85 Westie that is having ongoing steering problems. Whenever I go over a bump in the road the van continues to turn into it, there is play in the steering and a feeling of slightly out of control handling. I have had the entire front end checked out and everything is ok. They told me to have it realigned. The realignment shop that had set it not too long ago when I replaced the rear srpings said he adjusted the toe in a little and it seems to have helped some but the problem still exists. He said that was all he could do as the rack and pinion steering does not allow for further adjustment. What should I do? It is particularly noticable at higher speeds on the freeway where wind is enough to contend with on its own...I'm about at a place where a new engine is needed but I want to know that this problem can be resolved before I put another couple of thousand into this vehicle. Thanks in advance for any advice, Rick |
