When I had this problem, the cause were the grommets that the reservoir sits in. Drain reservoir, put lots of rags under master brake cylinder and remove. This makes it easier to remove reservoir to replace grommets. You can remove just the reservoir but have lots of rags and hope reservoir removes easy.
