ROOF LEAK!!!!!!

On a very rainy day we had a flood in the van.

The basic problem: water gets into where the rain gutters on the roof have been filled in. Winnebago put in a black piece or rubber to fill in the rain gutter and then put chaulk to seal it. This has cracked allowing water to seep into the va

How to find if you have the problem: The leak is not obvious since the water is leaked into the body panels where it will be mostly unseen and when the roof is down very little water gets in. So, to find out if you roof may leak pop the top. Look at the roof in the space between the front of the poptop and the roof rack over the passenger and driver seat. Press down gently on the black rubber strip in the rain gutter and look at the caulked seam. If it is like mine you will notice it is cracked rather than sealed. This happens in the rear of the roof as well.

To see where the water accumulates inthe van take the gray plastic cover off that cover around the roof latches. This will reveal where the rain gutters continue inside of the van. Leave the top up andd spray water on the outside of the van to test if you have a leak.

The fix:= Remove the front luggage rack and rechaulk.

Why: It should not be difficult to caulk the roof properly. Caulking should last 10 to 20 years. Why?

Please let me know if you find this problem as well. Chris

PS....you may have this leak in the rear of the van. WE had the leaks fixed under warrenty.
