<< hello everyone, We just got back from our first big road trip in the syncro and it was great. good gas milage and plenty of room for the kids and all the camping gear. anyway on the way south from Bend, Oregon to Crater Lake National Park the red idiot light came on next to OXS and not having an owners manual (it did not come with the bus, previous owner must have been collecting them). I did not know if this was seriuos or what, could someone out there in vanagon land please help me on this one. and also does anyone have an extra owners manual for my 1987 syncro.

Brian, don't worry about that light. It's only there to remind you to have the O2 sensor opperation checked out. That light after it's reset, comes on every 60k. If your O2 sensor has 60K on it, then it's time to replace it. After it's replaced, have the light reset. Please have it done by a pro, VW specialist if possible. That OXS light is wired to your speedo counter-box, wich after 60K , turns on the light. So don't worry about the light. Just get it done at your convenience. Michael Modl 87 syncro 87 quattro
