I found a prime example of stupidity of this kind this past spring at Guadeloupe NP, in the Texas panhandle. They have a pleasant tent campground and a separate RV campground which is simply a flat, desolate asphalt parking lot, no picnic tables, no nothing. We were cooking dinner in the tent campground when a ranger approached and demanded that we move

our "recreational vehicle" to the appropriate parking lot. Now, next to us was a man with an Chevy conversion van. He had a small tent set up, but clearly was camping and sleeping in his van. That was OK with the ranger, but in his mind the Westy was an RV and had to go park on the asphalt with the Gulfstreams. Henceforth I'll carry a small tent for this kind of situation.

Bill
