Subject: Changing WB lifters with the engine in the van

Has anyone out there changed hydraulic lifters with the wasserboxer engine in the van.

My 84 Westy is clacking ( I think at least 3 lifters won't extend completely). I am a reasonably experienced shade tree mechanic but I have not used the "new" extendable pushrod tubes. Any comments/cautions? Thanks, Gary Schleimer
