Subject: Stereo upgrade, stock speaker adequacy?
Comments: To: Vanagon@Vanagon.com
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

I want to upgrade the stereo in my van. Getting a new cassette player with a remote CD is expensive enough, adding four new speakers is a lot more, like $100.00 a pair. I'm wondering if the stock speakers are as bad as they sound at increased volume levels, or if it's just the stock VW radio/cassette that makes them sound that way. Also, does anyone know what size speaker the front doors of a '91 will accommodate? The stereo shop "thought" a 5 1/2" might fit but they weren't sure. It looks like 5 1/2 should fit in the back though. Many TIA, and Many more thanks to all who have answered my previous questions. David
