Meals Ready to Eat...the latest thing for Dept of Defense personnel to consume while away from normal sources of sustinence. These high calorie and sometime high fat meals in a bag are designed to keep a military person in the field properly fueled for the mission. Even 1 meal a day can provide up to 3000 calories. Some are fairly tasty and others are terrible. Some even come with a chemicl heating pouch that only requires water. Look for them at your local military surplus store or base commissary (if you are active duty like myself). Bon Apetit!
