The lines rust due to the type of steel and the lack of sufficient rust proofing. The heat melts off the factory wax coating. The contents have nothing to do with the outside corrosion. Eventually these lines will fail, usually developing pin hole leaks. I would wax or undercoat as many of these lines as possible before they fail.
