Speaking of Diesel Vanagons, I suddenly have not one but two '82 Westfalia diesel campers for sale, both full campers with poptop, stove, fridge, etc. One belongs to my best friend's cousin, who is selling it because of spouse disapproval, and the other was a customer's. The former has a brand new (rebuilt) engine, is in overall very good to excellent condition, and is complete except for the front table (which I do sell new for $99, if desired). I am having it fully checked out early next week by a local diesel specialist, and want $3700 for it. The other one has a relatively new head but recently started blowing oil, so it will need some sort of mechanical work. The interior is nice except for a small hole in the canvas (not severe) and, again, no front table. It has a dent near the bottom of the sliding door. Overall I'd call it in good condition, if not quite as clean as the first one. I'd sell it for $1500 as it sits; otherwise I'll have the engine repaired and will then be asking about double. (I'd love to try a GTI-engine conversion on it, but doubt I'll have the time!) I'm in the Philadelphia area. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot http://www.busdepot.com (215) 234-VWVW |
