I'm going to put out a general question, the TSB in question, 95-01 or 95-03 or something like that lists the same old O-ring part numbers. ARE the (black) O-rings being supplied to these numbers (same as they ever were in apopearance at least) R-134 compatible or not. When I bought a reciever/drier from FLAPS I got green O-rings as I expected, then I went to buy the rest from VW (ludicrous mark ups) and have been supplied black O-rings. Now frankly I know O-rings a little bit, have designed oil/gas sealing systems up to 60ksi pressure, so I realize color doesn't imply formulation and doesn't scare me but I have no way of knowing if the ones I've been supplied are a compatible formulation or not. Anyone know, the parts lady (who has been there 15 years and is the only person at the dealership I remotely trust) said when she heard I was converting, don't you need green ones? Although she said the new cars used the green ones with R134, she had no source of a cross reference to supply them for older vehicles (my '85 Quantum and the '87 van in question.) Anyone who has been supplied a green O-ring for a van or anyone who has used a black one happily for a year or so without major leakage, please help???
