Subject: GoWesty Dissatisfaction - Typical or Exception?

I recently bought a 1984 Westy, and happily set about ordering various parts in order to restore it to new condition, or at least nearly so.

I've placed orders with 4 online/mailorder vendors, and everything has gone great, with one exception. My experience with GoWesty hasn't been very good. In your opinion, was this a fluke, or are they not a preferred vendor?

I have sent this e-mail to GoWesty:

---<snip>--- All things considered, I am not very happy with the service that I have received from GoWesty:

#1. The instructions that I received with the window tent (and the seal kit from another order) were AWFUL in all respects and actually contained errors.

#2. The quality of the window tent is not nearly up to that of the original VW tent. The GoWesty tent material is much more coarse (and, I believe not as strong as the original), and the stitching at the seams has fewer stiches per inch. It actually tore during the installation, but that was a combination of your inadequate instructions, poor quality material, and, admittedly, my error in noting exactly how the tent fastened to the pop top. However, I feel that this error could have been avoidable, had I received adequate written instructions from GoWesty.

---<snip>---

#3. (I have not received the dash cover from this order. I haven't heard that it may be backordered, either, though it has been over 2 weeks since I placed this order. Please cancel this item; I will order it from another vendor.)

---<snip>---
