Subject: VW Owner's Manuals: Vanagon, Camper, & Wolfsberg Edition

Some time back I was trying to locate a VW owner's manual for my 1984 Westy. I was able to order manuals from VW (VWoA/Dyment Distribution, Strongsville, OH), but the pricing is kinda screwy. I wanted to pass along what I've found out - perhaps save some other owner a couple of bucks.

I wanted to order a Vanagon Owner's Manual AND the Camper Supplement. I ordered an owner's manual ($10.00), and the operator asked me if I also wanted to buy the the Wolfsberg Edition Supplement ($0.01! each), so, of course, I ordered this supplement, too. I also ordered the Camper Supplement ($10.00). However THE CAMPER SUPPLEMENT INCLUDED A VANAGON OWNER'S MANUAL AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. If I would've known this, I would've saved $10 by NOT ordering the Vanagon Owner's Manual separately!

Additionally, the Dyment/VWoA part numbers are a little strange: ------------------------------------------ 1984 VW Vanagon O/M (printed in Germany 8/83*) WSA 562 061 21 1984 "Wolfsberg Ed." Sup. (printed in Germany 2/84) WSA 560 427 23

1984 VW Vanagon O/M (printed in Germany 2/84*) WSA 562 064 21 1984 VW Camper O/M W42 024 960 1

(*I'm going to look over the 8/83 and 2/84 Vanagon Owner's manuals to see if there is any difference, but I haven't gotten to this yet.)

In the manuals themselves, the part numbers are a little different: ------------------------------------------- 1984 VW Vanagon O/M (printed in Germany 8/83) 000.5620.61.21 1984 "Wolfsberg Ed." Sup. (printed in Germany 2/84) 000.5604.27.23 1984 VW Vanagon O/M (printed in Germany 2/84)) 000.5620.64.21 1984 VW Camper O/M W42-024-960-1

Everybody got that? There'll be a quiz on all of this tomorrow...

Hope that this helps someone, somewhere, sometime...
