Hello Folks

I had an experience today. While driving to work I encountered a problem. After a 2.5 hour drive, which normally takes me 1.5 hours I encountered a washed out road. This is not a normal occourence here in Connecticut. I needed to get to for a very important meeting. There were many cars stalled in the water. I was almost going to give up aqnd turn around since no new cars were venturing across. Then I remembered the ground clearance of the Vanagon. No fan in the back to splash water on the motor and stall it. The electrical system is high and dry so I decided to go for it!! There were a lot of people standing around looking at me like I was crazy for trying. As I started through I realized that a tow truck that I though was pulling someone out was actually abandoned, stalled out and waiting for the water to recede!! I keep a watchful eye on the rear tires if my trusty Vanagon and pushed on. I dont know if water reached the motor or not but I had no problems where other lesser vehicles had failed. I was never so proud as to own a Vanagon as at that moment.

I suppose I could have done some damage, but all seems ok. I will check the CV's and such this weekend

Just had to tell about this

Thanks for listening
