I had this similar experience with my 1970 VW Kombi, "The Little Engine That Could"... We went thru torrential winter storm from Los Angeles to San Francisco via I-5 without any hitch . We drove across alot of 6 inch deep floods across the freeway which stranded some cars.... I brought along my emergency rain outfit/boots/tarp/flares/tools/spare parts which never been touched... I was impressed with its persistence thru the worst environment.... VW BUSES AND VANAGONS RULE!!!

James 88 Weekender (The Little Engine That Could II) (70 Kombi, The Little Engine That Could I)
