Dear Jim and air-cooled Listmembers,

I live in Brooklyn and have used two mechanics here that I trust for my '72 2.0L Campmobile. The one that I used for a rebuild 9 years ago and everything since closed shop about a year ago. I have since found another and they are called Park Slope Foreign Auto Repair on 15th St between 7th & 8th. Talk to Vinnie. (718) 788-3740. Tell him David with the '72 Camper sent you. He started his business with VWs and since has had to diversify. Two bugs were in his 8-bay shop, a mb, a f*rd van....

I got a tune-up, valves adjusted, lube and oil, and new exhaust. All was fine, except one of the plugs came out after a week! Apparently the plug was misthreaded, as I tried to replace it roadside. I got it back to them and they "fixed" it. Misthreaded plug is tightened in "enough" and fireing fine. Is this acceptable? I don't know. It would be a big job to bore and sleeve the plug hole, I suppose.

I've also recommended him to my neighbors with american cars and one has had him do some minor repairs.

Good Luck,

David Bogle '72 2.0L Brooklyn Campmobile (possibly F.S. soon) (soon possibly: '87 Syncro Westy)
