I sit here an impartial listener ( as I don't have either )to this thread that says VW should bring back the Vanagon. I did read the EC article on Eurospec conversion and it sounds great that the Vanagon FINALLY has the power to climb a steep driveway!, but can you be so sure the EV is such a dog?

I see few around, maybe one per 4 Vanagons, but they do look a hell of alot better than the Vanagon too me. Especially the new White VR6 camper that I saw recently in W. Hartford and Mystic CT with the NY plates(are you on this list?).

I would love a new EV but reality is that it's not gonna happen any time soon , so I hope to find a 90-91 MV or maybe the camper since it's such a " better value" as someone recently said. Or an older one with that Eurospec conversion sounds good too..... I'm used to torquey VW powerbands and hitting 65mph BEFORE I enter a highway.

Oh yeah I almost forgot: A week ago I was on I-91 North and came upon a vehicle fire, You could tell from way off it was a van so I immediately thought of this list and the burning Westy reports. Boy I was relieved when I saw it was an old chevy beater van totally engulfed and in meltdown stage ( as there was no fire crew on site yet) with some suprised looking teens standing near a statey 1/4 mile away!

Carl you asked what we thought.
