I noticed something interesting when I was reading the Dallas Morning News Sunday classified section tonight. I noticed a local dealer (non-VW) had several New Beetles for sale starting at $20,995. A few ads down someone (a private party) had a fully loaded 1998 Passat for sale for sale for $20,995. I think the New Beetles are as cute as everyone does but let's get real! A new Beetle is not in the same league as the Passat . I think lot of people who paid $20,000+ for their New Beetle are going to be very sorry a few years down the road. And with an initial production run of 50,000 I do not think they are going to be true collectors cars for a long time to come. Just my 2 cents. John P. Plano, TX 1985 Westy-Bastet |
