A standard starter predominatley has a pilot shaft extending past the gear while a Auto starter does not (the torque converter has a larger diam. than the flywheel) Also to note the Auto should have more torque to over-come hydraulic drag in the tranny--- and is usually more expensive But to answer your ??? yes a auto Starter will go into a standard tranny but a standard starter willnot go into a auto tranny. > >Is there a difference in starters for a 1980 Vanagon manual >transmission vs auto transmission. Will a starter off an automatic fit >a 1980 with a manual transmission. > >Thanks. > >Don > >1980 vanagon camper > |
