I'm new to the list but I've read the archives for a little while and have noticed a bit of correspondance on using Audi rims. One thing concerns me is that if one "machines" the center too large. The center of the rim is supposed to fit snuggly on the shoulder of the hub. The lugs alone aren't dependable enough to carry all of the weight and abuse down the road for <enmasses> eventually they may fail. This is probably why when you have removed all lugz from a older VW wheel then can't remove rim. ( pull out the beater--torches--curse alot--drop the jack ) a common prob but the nature of the rims job. Remember that weight is multiplied by force and a pot hole @ 55mph X WEIGHT = EXPONENTIAL DAMAGE (the van cannot drive on 3 wheels like the bug) Daniel Stevens Operations Specialist |
