I need to have the fuel gauge sending unit replaced on my '89 Syncro. The first mechanic I took it to said he would have to remove the driveshaft etc. to access the fuel tank and perform the job. I shared this information with the list members and was recommended to find another mechanic, since the sending unit can apparently be accessed through the (left?) rear wheel well. Mechanic No. 2 also said he would need to remove the drive shaft, etc. There just aren't many Syncros in central Ohio, so these guys haven't had much practice. This is becoming a point of pride: Does anyone have a step-step procedure for replacing the unit through the wheel well? I am running out of mechanics. Barry Armitage |
