First of all thanks to everyone on this list !! What a great resource for all of us VW owners.

My saga continues on my 87 GL Vanagon. I changed a pushrod tube a week ago and it has never ran correctly since !

First of all, after changing the tube I had no compression in #4 cylinder and the list directed me in the right direction to fix that problem which was an off centered push rod.(Thanks everyone) However, when I adjusted all of the tappets I had a couple that were spongy feeling, so I ajusted them looslly rather than tight in hopes that they would pump up and I could adjust them properly. This leads me to my question.

I drove the van about 100 miles on saturday and it ran good at idle but real powereless under load ? Almost felt like putt, putt, putt, putt (kinda jerky) feeling. Being that the van ran fantastic prior to me changing the pushrod tube and that I have adjusted and re-adjusted my tappets. This leads me to believe that this is probably still my problem.

Any input ...........PLEASE !!

Thanks in advance james b morris 69 Bug 73 Bus 87 Vanagon GL (with problems)
