Fire extinguishers ARE NOT expensive unless you buy them from the dealership. I brought a direct replacement fire extinguisher from Home Depot for my 85 Westy for $9.99 + tax. It even had the same mounting strap as the original. I think the brand name was "Kiddie" For 10 bucks no vanagon owner should be without one.

My 2 cents worth.
