Subject: Distributor & Air Flow Meter
Comments: To: "vanagon@vanagon.com" <vanagon@vanagon.com>

My mechanic has told me I need a new Air Flow meter and Distributor (the whole thing, not just the cap). He said my air flow meter is making my van run too rich and the distributor is not advancing the timing correctly.

Are these easy to replace myself? I am considering using a used distributor and a new air flow meter. Any thoughts?

BTW, I am leaking at my head gasket and am considering a new engine in the spring. I assume I will need a new dist. and air flow meter whether I replace the engine now or not.
