If you have factory alloy's, get a set of Michelin MXT's (205/70-14 99S
Reinforced).  They are about $75 each.  Michelin was willing to give me a
free set of MXT's after 3 blow-outs on my original MXL, which give me a
much better feeling than to deal with the VWoA!  At least they stand behind
their products.

hello,
My wife and I just bought a 91 Westy Syncro.  It has 29,000 miles (I
couldn't believe it either) on it and the original tires.  They look to me
a bit warn(but what do I know); the treads are just over an eighth inch
deep.
When should I expect to replace them and what's a good candidate?
