Jerry; As far as I can tell the blue wire has NO effect on charge regulation. I verified this on my 86 transporter. FWIW I measured 14.2 volts at the alternator (with or without the blue wire), with fog lights and maybe fan on. I removed the blue wire before I started the car, which had been sitting overnight so there was (probably) no residual charge on the field. Looking in Bentley, reference page 97.70 and follow current track 7 to page 97.74 where it leads to K2, Alternator Warning Lite. Also reference page 27.23 & 27.24 for t/s indicator light for alternator. Drive Safely & Good Luck Ken Lewis<Kernersville,NC>86 crew cab(Bessie); 85 GL(Elvis)
