I guess they figured they could wire it in with the alternator light so that when the alternator light turned off when the engine was started, the OXS light would too.

The downside is that if there is a charging system problem, both lights will illuminate.

Of course if the mileage counter triggers the OXS light, only the OXS light will illuminate.
