Tyrone--

Most folks who go through ignition switches that fast are carying an impressive array of keys on their key ring. While motoring down the road, this weighty blob of keys is swaying, bobbing and gyrating, using the entry point to the ignition switch as a fulcrum, and the tip of the key as a powerful little lever. That little lever destroys the delicate electrical innerds of the switch.

Solution: remove all of the rubbish from your vehicle's key ring: no rabbit's foot, pocket knife, bottle opener. "multi-tool", pill box, prophylactic holder, pictures of wife/hubby/Virigin Mary/etc, magnifying glass, virtual pet, tc; and no un-essential keys: e.g. keys to: brother's boat, neighbors tool shed, luggage locks, old locker from high-school, in-law's house, church van, supply room at work, golf cart, etc, etc. Keep a sepperate key ring for all this junk. I keep my VW key, house key, and P.O. box key, and that's it. Have only had to replace on ignition switch, and that was back when I was carrying a blob of keys.

best o' luck,

gmbulley cary, nc
