On a trip back from the West coast my temperature gauge and the red warning light suddenly indicated that my van was overheating. Suddenly the light stopped flashing and the gauged lowered into a normal position. I've taken the wire off of the the temperature sending unit and the neither the gauge nor the light showed anything. Normal, right? Then after a few minutes they both shot up and showed that the engine was overheating. Not normal, right? So if any of y'all have any suggestions as to what might be my problem or how it could be corrected, I would greatly appreciate it. Also during the trip my engine would start to sputer and stall until it eventually died. Then after a few minutes it would start again, go another 5 miles down the road and repeat the process. We finally bipassed the idle stabilizer unit which allowed the engine to run fine and cured the problem. Until arriving at the Bryce entrance and it stalled and wouldn't start again. It would turnover, but that's it. Then 3 hrs. later it started right up and ran fine. HELP ME PLEASE!!! How important is the idle stabilizer unit and what could be my other problems?
